Haggar Clothing Company

Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

My name is Avery Davis and I am currently a production manager for Haggar Clothing Company. My main responsibilities as a production manager are costing, placement and allocation of Haggar casual production orders. I also assist the merchandising and design teams regarding sample placement and pricing of the garment. I also provide costing reports for upper management and lead the on-boarding process for new garment makers.
Prior to becoming a production manager, I was a production associate where I was responsible for tracking production orders from placement at the garment maker to delivery at the distribution center. I also managed vendor WIP (work-in-progress) reports, approved bookings when the production order was ready to ship and reviewed the details of the production order for accuracy. I published a weekly comprehensive status report of all production orders in-works to the sales, customer service and planning teams.

I am recently married and live in Dallas, Texas. I went to the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!) and have a degree in Merchandising and Digital Retailing. I love to travel and am highly anticipating my honeymoon to Ghana!

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

One of my most memorable career accomplishments was being a recipient of the Haggar Golden Crown Award. The is a monthly award given to an employee who is recognized for going and above and beyond to achieve a goal. I will never forget that day! I was so pleasantly surprised and had no idea I would be chosen for the award. The award was presented to me by my supervisor in front of the entire company.

Who are your role models?

One of my role models is my grandfather. He is currently 93 years old and has achieved so much in life. He was an entrepreneur and started two successful business during a time where there were many hardships for African-American men. He is one of the most determined and generous people I know, and I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without him. He has taught me to never give up and to follow my dreams. He still mows the lawn, rake the leaves and completed mentoring an elementary school student last year. He still drives but just short distances.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job ties into Haggar’s purpose statement: “To enrich the quality of the lives we touch”. My role in sourcing requires me to communicate with people from all over the world. I impact many people throughout the supply chain; rather it be a factory worker or a sales associate, my job is very rewarding.

What is your favorite social media site? Why?

My favorite social media site is YouTube. There is so much user-generated content and you can pretty much find anything that piques your interest. If you look at my feed you will find videos ranging from makeup tutorials to the British Royal Family.
